Spring sayings
When the birds sing their songs again, the first buds sprout, and the days finally get longer, spring is here. The enchanting sayings and poems of Goethe, Morgenstern, and many other artists evoke springtime feelings all year long.

Nature
Buttercup yellow meadows,
sorrel red tint, –
O you abundant sprout,
as the eye never gets used to!
Trees filled with melodious song,
wonderful blossoms snow-frosted –
Yes, indeed, you show us dreams,
how the breast can hardly comprehend them.
Christian Morgenstern
My life is like a game in spring.
I want to live the way I like:
I want nothing to do with your stiff customs and dull traditions.
The sky is blue, the meadow and the fields are green,
fresh springs, cheerful rivers,
and the sun and stars are of wonderful hospitality.
I want to finish my game.
Ralph Waldo Emmerson

When the lovely spring arrives
and one wreathes oneself with violets,
if you have strong courage
Chives in the scrambled eggs,
circulate through the human juices
new, unimagined powers,
any blockage disappears,
all hearts become light
and mine asks itself quietly:
“Will anyone want me this year?”
Friederike Kemper
