Wildlumenwiese – Lawns can be different
Hard-wearing grassy areas for children to play on are a must-have in almost every garden. But this green carpet doesn't have to be a monotonous steppe: From daisies to herb lawns and wildflower islands to true wildflower meadows, there are natural design options for every taste that will bring a touch of nature into your garden.

Lawn with a difference
Even a durable play and lounge lawn doesn't have to consist exclusively of standard grasses. White daisies, sky-blue speedwell, and yellow dandelions are the first flowers to take over a green lawn. Bugleweed and clover follow later. If you let these wildflowers flourish, your lawn will look more colorful and attract various insects. Caution is only required when walking barefoot. You can safely mow such a flower lawn, ideally to a height of 4â_x0080__x0085_–â_x0080__x0085_6â_x0080__x0085_cm; the less rainfall, the longer the lawn should be. You can create green islands in meadows by regularly cutting these areas to a height of 4â_x0080__x0085_cm.
Fragrant herb lawn
Herbal lawns are considerably easier to maintain and more ecologically valuable. Ready-made mixes containing various grasses, low-growing fragrant herbs, and colorful wildflowers are available from specialist retailers. Since these plants thrive in different soils than conventional lawn grasses, you'll need to thin the soil before sowing, for example, by adding quartz sand.
Then you can say goodbye to lawn care in the summer; instead, you can enjoy the garden and observe the variety of animal visitors. With a herb lawn, you only need to water it during extremely dry periods and mow it two to three times a year. The clippings remain in the ground, eliminating the need for fertilizing and scarifying. The only drawback: lawns made up of fragrant herbs are less resilient and don't tolerate regular mowing. If you want to transform your existing lawn, you can overseed herb lawn seeds. However, you should avoid any fertilizers.
