Opinel

Opinel – the synonym for pocket knives!
Anyone who loves pocket knives knows Opinel. The "Opinel" is a simple folding knife with a wooden handle that, in 1890, originated in a small town near Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in the French Savoy region and set out to conquer the world. It was made famous by the company's founder, Joseph Opinel, who developed the first simple, robust pocket knife in his father's workshop, a metalsmith, which was immediately well-received by farmworkers. The tried-and-tested basic model has changed only slightly in function and form to this day, but has been sold millions of times around the world – always with the authentic "crowned hand." Since 1909, the logo has adorned every knife blade from the Opinel company. "La main couronée" with the three outstretched fingers comes from the coat of arms of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, the home of Opinel. Another trademark is the rotating and patented locking ring ("Virobloc"). Opinel has been a standard product for generations, offering quality and value for money, and comes with an unconditional warranty. An everyday classic, Opinel not only entered the French dictionaries as a synonym for pocket knife in 1989, but in 2006, a jury of international designers selected it as one of the 999 most successful design products of all time in the illustrated book "Phaidon Design Classics." An Opinel is a must-have!
