The Cosmos, also called cosmos, is a well-known cottage garden plant that now comes in impressive varieties. The variety ' 'Cupcakes White' captivates with its distinctive flower shape, reminiscent of a ballerina's tulle skirt. The jagged edges merge into one another, forming a single or double row of enclosed flowers. The cosmos blooms pure white with a yellow center. This variety is a real eye-catcher in bouquets and beds. Bees and other insects also find plenty of food in this cosmos. Details : Sowing indoors/greenhouse: March to May Sowing outdoors: April to June Germination time: 7-14 days at 20-25°C Sowing depth: Cover with a maximum of 0.5 cm of soil Height: 100-120 cm Planting distance: 40 cm Flower size: 5-8 cm Flowering time: July to October Soil: Loose, permeable, humus-rich soil Fertilization: Fertilize regularly Location: Sunny Water consumption: Medium Growing tips : Cosmos are not frost-hardy and should not be planted outdoors until after the Ice Saints in mid-May. The young plants can be acclimated to outdoor temperatures during the day from mid-April onwards, thus hardening them off. It is important to cover the seeds only lightly with soil and keep them evenly moist. Once they reach a height of 20-30 cm, they can be pinched, meaning the main stem is shortened. This encourages the plant to branch out better, the stems to become longer, and the plant will produce a sea of flowers in the summer. Cut flower : The long blooming period makes the Cosmos a perfect flower for summer bouquets. Its upright growth habit makes it a great cut flower, lasting up to a week in a vase. As soon as the bud breaks open, it's ready to be harvested for vase cutting. Use : cut flower Potted plant Insect magnet Bag contents : approx. 25 seeds Store in a cool, dry place.
