Make your own blackcurrant juice – fruity, refreshing & easy
Homemade blackcurrant juice is the epitome of summer in a glass: intensely fruity, slightly tart, and pleasantly sweet. With just a few ingredients and a little time, the juice is easy to make – perfect on its own, as a spritzer, for desserts, or for mixing.

Ingredients
2 kg red currants
300 g sugar
Aside from that
4 glasses of 500 ml each
durability
approx. 3 months
How to prepare
From the juicer:
Sort the currants, rinse them gently and place them, including the stems, in the strainer basket of the juicer.
Sprinkle with sugar and juice over a water container for about 45 minutes. The water should be bubbling and steam should be visible. Drain the juice in good time or place a container underneath as a precaution.
Pour the juice into the prepared bottles while it is still hot and let it cool.
Without juicer:
Strip the currants from the vines and prepare as described. Combine the berries in a saucepan with 500 milliliters of water and bring to a boil. Pour the fruit mixture into a cheesecloth and place a bowl underneath. Let the juice drain overnight. Combine the juice with the sugar, bring to a boil briefly, and pour hot into the prepared jars. Seal immediately and turn upside down for 5 minutes (for example, in a mineral water crate).
