Make your own sloe jam – aromatic, fruity & slightly tart
Sloe jam is a truly unique taste experience—fruity, slightly tart, and with a delicate acidity. The small, deep blue berries need the first frost to develop their full aroma and are then wonderfully processed into a delicious jam. With just a few ingredients, you can create a unique spread that also goes well with cheese or desserts. Learn how to easily make your own sloe jam!

Ingredients for 2 glasses
600 g sloe berries
1 untreated
lemon
250 g gelling sugar (2:1)
Here’s how to prepare it:
Cover and cook the sorted, washed berries in a little water until soft, stirring occasionally and adding a little more water if necessary.
Then pass the sloe berries through a food mill. This yields about 500 g of sloe jam.
Grate the lemon zest and squeeze out the juice. Place it in a saucepan with the sloe jam and preserving sugar and bring to a boil while stirring. Boil vigorously for about 4 minutes, stirring frequently.
Pour the jam into hot, rinsed jars and seal tightly. Turn the jars upside down for a few minutes, then let them cool in their normal position.
